Starting my life's journey from a remote village in North India in  early fifties,I was lucky to get  good education as a result of my father's vision and his passion to educate his children. It was considered to be a wonder that my brother could rise to the rank of Air Vice Marshall in Indian Air force whereas  I could get a Masters in Political Science and my sister could graduate from a good college. It was during our college days that we sisters started reading Femina (a home & fashion magazine) and developed interest in stitching , embroidery & fabric painting etc.

Later I got married to a thorough academician & scholar - a university teacher Dr. Gopal Singh and with his inspiration and guidance  did my Ph.D. and joined  teaching in the university. We both remained academically active- doing research, attending seminars along with raising our two adorable children.

I always stole some time from my busy schedule to create some beautiful dresses , toys and bags for my kids and nephews and nieces.Afterwards i have been doing this for my lovely grand kids. Having taught for almost forty years now we are leading a retired life & I can devote more time to explore and pursue my passion for craft work. But the credit goes to my son Jas Gaurav , who is now taking forward the family legacy (teaching in a US Business School) and his friend Amy Lane a creative writer, who encouraged me to start this venture -  Ruby Designs.
